About Us

Mission Statement

The mission statement of the Religious Education Program is to illustrate the love of Christ’s message and the suffering and death of our Lord Jesus Christ for the His Church, the Roman Catholic Church.

It is the primary goal of the program to ensure that all students are taught in accordance with the Magisterium of the Church using the direction outlined in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The students are taught compassion and love for God and others through the traditions and truth of Catholicism.

In offering the students the opportunity to learn about being Catholic- preparation to receive the sacraments, worship and prayers of the Church are stressed. By which, the parents’ most significant vocation as primary educators of the faith is fulfilled through supplemental instruction of the teachers and Diocesan approved curriculum.

May the Blessed Virgin Mary continue to be our intercessor as we ask her to pray that the goals and work of the volunteer staff of the program be taken to our Lord for His eternal blessings. Amen

Our Lady Queen of the World,
Pray for us.

About the Program

The School of Religion Program at our Lady Queen of the World Church is an eleven-year program, beginning with Kindergarten and ending with Confirmation in the 10th Grade.

Just as Grammar, Junior High, and High School require yearly attendance to prepare children to live in the world around them, so does their school of religion asks that students attend every year to learn about the richness of their Catholic Faith and Tradition, to prepare students to live in the world with Christ as their light.

First Holy Communion is a two-year preparation program. Students must attend two years of religious education prior to receiving First Holy Communion. It is advised to enroll your child in the First grade in order to receive the sacrament in the Second Grade.

The Confirmation program is a three-year preparation program. Students should attend yearly from Kindergarten through Confirmation, however, students may enroll in the 8th grade to prepare to receive Confirmation in the 10th grade.

The Diocese of Oakland requires that students be at least 16 years of age and a sophomore in high school, 2-3 years of Catechetical instruction and 30-40 hours of service to the parish and community; in order to receive Confirmation.
